Search & Rescue

Chabad House Dharamsala responds to medical needs all year round, around the clock.

We came to Dharamsala to learn and to teach — and very quickly realized that the Rebbe and the Almighty had additional plans for us. To this day there is no adequate medical response in Dharamsala for many cases of physical and emotional harm, and the natural address for anyone needing medical help or emotional support has always been the Chabad House.

Thank God, we have been involved in genuinely saving lives over the years. The fact that Rabbi Dror and other team members served as combat medics has brought salvation even in difficult cases.

It's important to clarify: the Chabad House is not the address for treating critical cases, but with our extensive experience we can refer you to the right people. In India, the right guidance saves lives. So please consult us on any medical matter, to get the proper care and avoid unnecessary complications.

Above all — please be careful!

Hiking in the mountains must be with other people and on known trails.

Drug use causes severe cases of psychosis every year — sometimes irreversible. Avoid it!

Contact with dubious people can lead to violent robbery and sexual assault.

Allergens — take extra care; there is no supervision of food ingredients in India. Carry an appropriate injector and a friend who knows your condition.

A simple medical issue can become high-risk if you don't reach the right clinic.

Rescue

One of the hardest problems in our area is that there are no rescue teams and no proper ambulances — treatment effectively begins only once the injured person reaches a hospital, usually only a private one such as Fortis Hospital in Kangra. Until now, evacuations were done on an improvised stretcher or the Chabad House stretcher. Time is a key factor in saving lives — so the moment you hear of a medical problem, even a vague report, turn to the Chabad House immediately.

In an emergency only

Contact Rabbi Dror's private WhatsApp directly. On Shabbat and holidays you must come to the Chabad House in person, as there is no phone response.

The Chabad House has basic first-aid equipment for public benefit: a stretcher, resuscitation equipment and more.

May everyone have a healthy and joyful journey — physically and spiritually, with God's help.
